Councillor Says Health And Safety Has Gone Too Far

A St Mary’s councillor says he’s so fed up with the red tape of health and safety he’s declined a nomination to serve on a newly reformed council committee.

Brian Lowen says health and safety has become a national obsession and things have gone too far.

The council Health and Safety committee has been reformed and meets quarterly – it includes a union representative, a safety advisor, a Chief Officer and a health and well being officer and a single elected representative.

Following nominations from Julia Day and Amanda Martin, Cllr Mrs Martin was eventually elected to serve on the committee.
