New Bottling Machine for Islands’ Brewery

A specialised bottling machine, funded in part by a Local Action Group grant, has gone into production at the Ales of Scilly Brewery.

The Czech-built machine semi automates the process and according to brewery owner Mark Praeger, will revolutionise the business as he’ll be able to produce bottles of beer without yeast in them. Previously his ales were bottle conditioned which leaves some sediment behind.

It’ll speed up production to 1000 bottles a day and also extend the shelf life of the beer to two years.

Mark is going to introduce new, easily removed labels, so he can offer a deposit for returned bottles. He thinks that recycling is important and that he can do his bit to reduce the height of the Moorwell Alp.
