Wine Club Donates First Shelterbox

St Mary’s Wine Group has raised enough cash for it’s first Shelterbox.

Shelterbox is a charity that provides emergency shelter and lifesaving supplies for families around the world who are affected by disasters.

Scilly has already given the most per head of population in the UK towards the appeal that provides 10-berth tents packed with life sustaining equipment like blankets, cooking utensils and water purification tablets.

Tony Archarya , who set up the wine group, said members just pay cost prices for wine when they attend the monthly sessions in the card room of the Scillonian Club with all profits going to charity.

The surplus has already topped £500 and the group of wine fans are getting closer to buying their second box for the Rotary appeal.
